Estimated to weigh 50 pounds Alan's big kingi was taken on a green surface popper. |
This massive yellowtail kingfish was caught by Alan Good in the Tiri Channel off Whangaparaoa, north of Auckland.
It was esimated to weigh 50 pounds and measured 1.2 metres in length. It tool Alan half and hour to land after it had taken a popper cast on light 20 lb line. The head of the big kingfish weighed 4kgs on its own.
