This salmon was caught by Jason Petersen on 3 February 2008 in the Rakaia River lagoon near the river mouth. It took about 10 minutes to play and weighed 22lb.

It went for a 28gm white zed spinner. jason had only recently got his fishing license and this is the first salmon he has ever caught! Congratulations Jason. Your first one is often the hardest to catch. Many thanks for the picture!
