Local Wins the Big Prize

Local Rakaia woman Jill burrows scooped the big prize in the recent 2009 Rakaia River Salmon Fishing Competition held 27 February to 1 March.

Jill won the Prize Draw for all Senior Competitors who were present at the prizegiving. The top prize was:

A Kawasaki KLF300 4X4 Motorbike valued at $9,495.00
Sponsored By Rakaia River Fishing Promotions Inc. In association with Chapman's Kawasaki. I ncluding Custom-built Lowdeck Trailer. Valued at $2,500.00 Donated by KPL Engineering - Total Prize Value $11,995.00

There were 14 salmon caught on the Friday, 21 on Saturday and 6 caught on Sunday after the river coloured up.
