Lloyd from Kaikoura Fishing Centre caught this 57 lb groper off Kaikoura. Groper and large trumpeter fishing along the Kaikoura Coastline is not as good as it once was. Nowadays you are more likely to catch sea perch than any other species. However big groper are still caught but you have to go further out and know the best spots.
