View looking eastward out to sea on a calm day from the boat ramp at Boat Harbour, Goose Bay, Kaikoura. Note the entrance is not much wider than this small dinghy. When big rollers are coming in it is a dangerous place. Amazingly, here, the sea is over 1,000 meters deep just one kilometer from shore! "Looking out to sea we watched as orca tossed a dolphin up in the air!" This is the only public boat ramp between Oaro and South Bay. It is only suitable for smaller trailer boats under 5m.
