Hurunui River mouth camping ground viewed from the seaward side.
There is a rudimentary camping ground (toilet and running water only) on the north bank of the Hurunui River mouth. Access to the river mouth itself would be difficult from the camping ground without a dinghy.
Although it is possible to walk around the north end of the lagoon if you are in no hurry and are reasonably fit. I have even seen some anglers wade across it when the river is low!
