Most of the shoreline of Lake Brunner is only accessible by boat. When the lake level is high foot access is even more difficult as you can see in this photograph. In this situation even the most modest of water craft like a dinghy, or kayak, opens up many more fishing options. It is hard work spin fishing, or using the fly rod, without getting into a tangle with the vegetation. A track runs around this part of the lake near the Arnold River outlet. It runs off in the direction of Dobson Bay. When the lake is lower a stony and sandy beach provides good access between bush and lake. I have always found the trout difficult to spot. My mate on the other hand has no problem spotting cruising brown trout working a shoreline beat.
