Flooded Jetty at Moana

The level of Lake Brunner can rise considerably following heavy rain. Here it has almost swamped the jetty at Moana. At such times shore fishing is difficult with the water right into the bush requiring difficult wading.

Water flows out of Lake Brunner down the Arnold River, a tributary of the Grey, which in turn runs into the sea at Greymouth some 31 kilometers away. Though high the water is not greatly discolored beyond its normal tea colour and is still fishable.
