This is a very useful little book aimed squarely at the beginner just starting out in trout fishing. In this down-to-earth easily understood text the author offers practical advice that will put fish on your hooks. He is to the point and sticks to the basics. I think the best way to learn about trout fishing is to tag along with a mate who is an expert. Mike Weddell's new book is the next best thing.

Mike Weddell is possibly best known in his roll as angling writer for the Otago Daily Times. His column running in that great southern institution for twenty years. He has also written other fishing books, and was five times British All Round Fly Casting Champion. He has also won the Waipahi Gold Medal fly fishing competition four times.

In this book Mike looks at choosing the right tackle, how to cast, which lures and spinners, bait fishing, trolling, fishing in rivers and lakes, and gives a good grounding on the mysterious art of fly fishing. - Allan Burgess
