If you are serious about trout fishing, this
new book from two of New Zealand's
foremost anglers is just for you. It covers
aspects of trout fishing in New Zealand
from selection or construction of tackle, to
tactics, entomology, the most popular fly-fishing techniques - dry fly, lure, nymph, and
fishing wet flies in the surface film - and
spin-fishing. Fishing on both rivers and still
waters is covered and there is even a chapter
on fly-fishing for salmon. Entertaining
anecdotes and a lucid text packed with tips
and techniques make this an essential book
for novices and expert anglers alike.
Neither author needs much introduction in New
Zealand angling circles. Tony Orman is the author of 15
previous books, perhaps the most famous of which is
Trout with Nymph, and an active campaigner on fishing
and hunting issues. He has served on fish and game
councils and national outdoor sporting administrations,
and lives in Blenheim, where he works as a journalist.
John Morton is widely known as the
doyen of New Zealand fly-tiers. His many
original fly patterns are now in widespread
use, such as the eponymous Morton's
Mouthful. He has fished extensively
throughout the world and is much in
demand as a guest speaker and
demonstrator of fly-tying and tackle
construction, where his skill in combining
humor and teaching is legendary. He lives
in Christchurch and, when prevented by
poverty from fishing, works as a landscape
architect.
