Waimakariri Rangers Salmon Fishing Contest 2009 Some 70 odd anglers entered this year's annual Rangers Fishing Competition at the mouth of Canterbury's Waimakariri river - held 13 March 2009. There were four salmon taken in total. All of them were caught on the south side of the river mouth. Almost all of the anglers present were fishing on the south side with many having been ferried over from the north side before the 7.00am start.
