The Senior Trout Competition winner was Gary Sullivan with a fish weighing 4.41kg. He won the Salmon Tales Trophy for Heaviest Trout Overall and the Doug Hood Memorial Trophy for Heaviest Trout caught by a Senior Mid-Canterbury Angler.

Major Prize Draw for all Senior Competitors who entered: The winner was Blue Morrison and his prizes included a Daiwa Pluton 200H Reel, Saltist 7’ 1 piece Rod, Daiwa Redback 153 Reel, Daiwa Redback Rod, Daiwa TD Sensor Braid 15lb, Coleman 65 litre Marine Cooler. VALUED at $1996. Sponsored by Rakaia River Fishing Promotions Inc.

Nigel Riley was the winner of the Prize Draw for all Senior Competitors who were present at the prizegiving. Nigel was actually standing right next to the major prize when the winner was announced. Looking somewhat stunned Nigel said, "I just can't believe I've won it."

A total of 90 salmon and 43 trout were caught during the event. The heaviest salmon weighed 8.2 kilograms.  There were 750 seniors participating and 133 juniors.
A line of anglers casting out over the surf on the south side of the Rakaia River mouth on day two of the competition. This was the hot spot with some 19 salmon taken on the the Saturday. Unfortunately the tsunami warning prevented fishing at the mouth of day three!

The 2nd Heaviest Salmon on Day 2 was landed by Bruce Rule with a fish weighing 7.86kg. James Moore was the winner of The Doug Hood Memorial Trophy for Heaviest Trout caught by a Junior Mid-Canterbury Angler. It weighted: 1.40 kg. Ken Lee caught the Heaviest Salmon on Day 3 with a fish weighing 6.14kg. Grant Perry caught the Heaviest Salmon Overall with a fish weighing 8.10kg. Grant holds the Rakaia River Fishing Promotions Trophy for Heaviest Salmon Overall. In total there were: Senior fish caught 133. Salmon 90, Trout 43, Junior fish caught 6, Salmon 0, Trout 6.
