Pommy's First Barracouta

Steve Dudley with a 5kg barracouta caught from the Petone Wharf, Wellington.

Steve Dudley with his first ever barracouta !

Saturday the 23rd of August was a "red letter day" for Steve Dudley. That was the day Steve caught his first barracouta! Steve hooked it while fishing from the Petone Wharf, Wellington. It was 11.30 am to be precise, at low tide. There was no wind and the sea was flat.

The 'couta weighed in at 5kgs. Steve also reports that there were plenty of red cod between 1kg to 2.5kg around at the time as well.

Congratulations Steve! You are off to a great start.
